Sam usually runs from behind and starts picking off runners in the final lap. This world-class field was just too fast for him to do that. He was only able to pick off one guy. I'm sure he gave it his best effort. It was great seeing a Springer on national TV.
One last thing: Qualifying for this race was a huge accomplishment in itself. Congratulations are in order.
