Nonstop Salon: The West Bank, March 21

Sunday Salon at Nonstop (potluck and presentation) with Iveta Jusova on the West Bank

March 21, 7 p.m. @ Millworks 305 N Walnut Street, Yellow Springs, Ohio

Iveta will discuss what she witnessed and learned on a trip to the West Bank. The talk will be accompanied by photos taken while there.

As part of her 2007 faculty research at Antioch College, Iveta Jusova joined the Global Exchange delegation and traveled to the West Bank, Palestine. The group visited various NGOs working in the region, including Addameer (prisoners’ rights organization), Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, Palestinian Women’s Center for Legal Aid, Christian Peacemaker’s Team in Hebron, Palestinian Center for Rapprochement between People, Israeli Families’ Forum for Bereaved Parents, and Israelis Against the Wall.

About the Host – Iveta is a feminist post-colonial scholar who has taught classes on various topics, including Palestinian literature in translation. Her article on Edward Said, co-authored with Dan Reyes, was published in Social Text (the 2006 memorial issue on Edward Said).

About Salons – Nonstop’s Salons take place every other Sunday at 7pm. Salons encourage discussion, the sharing of cultural and academic works/research-in-progress, exposure to local resources, and diverse investigations. Each salon begins with a potluck meal; all are welcome; pass the hat admission.
