The YSHS boys basketball team defeated Springfield Catholic Central 55-53 tonight in a D-IV sectional second-round game at Troy on a basket scored with 4.2 seconds left in the game.
Called in by an ecstatic fan as he was leaving the game.
This is an account from Perry Stewart who was at the game:
Yellow Springs led at halftime 28-22. Catholic Central began the second half with at 12-0 run to take a 34-28 lead over YS in the third quarter. YS then put on its smothering press to slow down CC which led 39-38 at the end of the third quarter. It was a battle for all of the fourth quarter with YS's Jody McDonald scoring the game winner with 4.2 seconds left on the clock.
The Bulldogs next play Franklin Monroe in the sectional finals on March 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Troy High School.
