Two numbers for people to call to express support for keeping the YS Post Office open.
  • Senator Sherrod Brown 888.896.6446
  • Congressman Steve Austria 937.325.0474

Not to be too political, but I wrote BOTH of them... Austria claimed he couldn't do anything without a big waiver form being filled out. Brown sent me first a copy of the letter HE sent to the USPS Cinti Office and then a copy of what they sent him. Just so you know...PLEASE try to sign the petition that going around town, too.

Has there actually been a proposal to close the post office?

Not closing for now. Just limited service. But I suppose closing will be the next step. This was sent in by a concerned reader.

As of May, the PO is going down to a ONE man operation. Our mail delivery people will all be coming from Xenia. Dave, the Postmaster, will be manning the PO window by himself. From what I've been told, he has been told that will be for two years; after that, who knows? They will probably decide that it's costing too much to heat the building for one person, know what I mean?
