Xenia cancels its annual festival

Economy blamed for lack of vendors, sponsors

Regional media outlets reported yesterday that Xenia has canceled this year's Old Fashioned Days, its annual festival scheduled for early in September.

The Blog was able to reach YS Chamber of Comerce Director Karen Wintrow by email last night for comment. She responded by email:

Wow. I had no idea. The contrast in situations couldn't be bigger. I hope the community continues to support Street Fair. It is so important to the community. I do get weary of hearing the constant snipes against it understanding how so many local businesses, organizations and even our vendors, all of whom are small businesses themselves, depend upon the strong sales/exposure of those 2 days.
