US F-16s have final flights at Springfield

The Ohio Air National Guard 178th Fighter Wings's F-16s had their final flights at Springfield-Beckley Airport this week, as the base takes on different duties. "The base is moving to a new intelligence mission and remotely flying the MQ-1 Predator," the Springfield News-Sun reported on Friday. "The pilots will begin heading to Predator training in August."

The skies over Yellow Springs won't be quiet just yet, as the Dutch F-16s will still be aloft in training flights until the end of the year. The US jets will be gone from the base by mid-August, the paper said.
