Presents
Exploring Nature’s Worlds: Oil Paintings
by Nancy Fisher
The
Glen Helen Atrium Gallery is showing Exploring Nature’s Worlds: Oil Paintings by Nancy Fisher from September 1 through November 11,
2012. Fisher will be showing paintings of people and places that have caught
her attention.
The public is invited to meet the artist at the opening reception on Sunday,
September 9, from 2 - 4 pm Nancy
Fisher will speak about her work at 3 pm.
Nancy
Fisher is an award-winning Dayton artist. When a MFA student at Kent State,
Fisher began working exclusively in oils. She primarily uses the technique,
called alla prima, where layers of wet paint are applied to previously applied
still wet layers. The alla prima technique
allows Fisher to exploit oil paint’s potential for fluid energy. She says, “The
work I create is my response to a beautiful sight, my observation of human
emotion, or simply the sun’s transformation of an everyday object…” Fisher’s
paintings have been widely exhibited, and her work is included in the
University
of Cincinnati, Clermont permanent collection.
The
Gallery is located in the Glen Helen Building at 405 Corry Street in Yellow
Springs. Show hours are noon to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 4 pm
on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free and artwork will be available for
purchase.
