Presbyterian Church Benefit Concert - June 26

Brian Mayer and Friends
Saturday, June 26, 7 - 9 p.m.
First Presbyterian Church

This from Brian Mayer:

The First Presbyterian Church of Yellow Springs, Ohio has been a very important part of my musical education throughout my life. No matter what time of year, they always provided me with a place to practice performing. It was the first time I was involved in a choir that was not a music class in school.

In the last few years, the church has faced many challenges, including a lack of money for things such as building repair and paying for staff. It church deserves to continue to be a part of the community and supported by the town.

I have decided to perform a benefit concert and donate all of the proceeds to help the church with building maintenance and operating costs. The church is currently trying to get a grant to fix/replace the roof on the sanctuary. If they can show they are getting funding from other sources, they are more likely to get a grant.

As an alumnus of Yellow Springs High School, this is my solo performing debut to the general public. I am proud that I am able to use the talents I first developed in the Yellow Springs schools and the church to give back to the community.

I will be performing several solos on my French horn as well as on my Natural horn (horn with no valves). I will also be joined by four friends from the school of music at Northern Illinois University, which, as of May, will be my college Alma Mater. In addition to the five of us, there will be several string/piano players from Yellow Springs filling out the remainder of the concert.

Please come and support the church and hear some very accomplished college musicians.

There will be a suggested minimum donation per person, but anything above that is more than welcome as well.

Thank you in advance and I hope to see as many of you there as possible. As I get more details I will make them available to the Blog.
