This was a very difficult week and as hard we tried to prevent this, I’m afraid the children might have heard the President’s speech on Tuesday. We let them have unlimited use of their iPODs, PlayStation and cell phones but that wasn’t enough to keep them from hearing snippets of what the President had to say. At breakfast this morning, the oldest girl started talking about doing better in school and taking on some responsibility for her own behavior. I almost choked on my coffee when I heard that – where do kids get these things? I think it’s pretty clear she heard it in school.
And then last night, we never should have had the TV on in the first place, the kids were listening at the door when the President gave his health care speech to Congress. We were so upset they had to hear about health care for everyone, no changes in Medicare coverage and even a public sector option for people who can’t find a private sector insurer, And all this talk about the insurance companies having to become more accountable. My wife was in tears when she realized the kids heard that.
Everybody calmed down a bit when we told the children the good news that the government might let Nana and Papa live for a few more years if they promise not to soak up a bunch of Medicare dollars. We finally had to listen to two hours of Uncle Rush and that seemed to get everyone back on the right side of things.

Oh goodness our children ARE in serious trouble.
The children only heard one side of the issue. The schools didn't allow it to be balanced with a passionate plea for ignorance. The President did give a nice speech but just remember, no matter what he says, he wants to kill your grandmother.
The rightist kooks say the liberals want to kill their grandparents. The leftist kooks say the conservatives want to kill their grandchildren. It's a draw.
