In what has become a Yellow Springs tradition, the Yellow Springs Community Band will give a concert, starting at 8:00 p.m., before the fireworks display in Gaunt Park, Saturday night. The band will play until it gets too dark to see the music. The program will include an eclectic combination of patriotic marches, classical music and show tunes. So, get to the park early to get a good spot to see the fireworks and pass the time listening to your friends and neighbors perform.
On a personal note, this will be the tenth straight year I have performed at the fireworks with the Community Band and it tickles me every year to see the crowd that turns out. It never gets old.

Fireworks Postponed until Sunday
Per Carol Gasho of the Lions Club, the fireworks have been postponed until Sunday because of the strong chance of rain which increases the danger of the fireworks. The Community Band performance will happen prior to the fireworks as usual. So come out to the fireworks with a few dollars for the donation bucket to support the Lions Club in this wonderful gift they give to the community every year.
