Writers' Workshop kicks off tonight with keynote at McGregor




Zakes Mda, a South African novelist, playwright and painter, now based at Ohio University, where he teaches creative, writing will kick off this year's rendition of the Antioch Writers' Workshop tonight at 7:00 with a keynote address in the National City Auditorium at Antioch McGregor. Zakes is the author of seven novels and more than 20 stage plays, which have been translated into 19 languages. His novel The Heart of Redness (2000) won the Commonwealth Writers Prize: Africa, and the Sunday Times Fiction Award. The address is free and open to the public.

Throughout the week there will be other free evening events open to the public: July 12, 13, 14, 7:00 p.m.--Readings by 2009 AWW Faculty; and July 17, 7:00 p.m.--Readings by selected 2009 Students. All events are held at Antioch University McGregor in the National City Auditorium.
