Little Art to reprise Jackson tribute at Saturday matinee

Little Art Theatre owner Jenny Cowperthwaite Ruka originally wanted to schedule the Michael Jackson tribute for a Saturday matinee, she said in a chance meeting with the Blog on the street today. But the timing was wrong, so it went off at 11:00 p.m. last Friday. When an overflow crowd showed up, she added a second show at 1:00 a.m.

According to Cowperthwaite Ruka, the theater seats 180. 75 people showed up for the second show, she said. She has now added a third show, a matinee this Saturday at 1:30 p.m., to accommodate those folks who couldn't make it to the theater late at night and on short notice.

Admission is free, but donations can be made to help support the Little Art and its programming.

The Blog estimated the size of the crowd at the Little Art on Friday night to be around 500.

Michael Jackson was talented, but I think he hardly warrants the attention he is receiving in death. If not for Quincy Jones, Jackson would be nothing more than a dancer. I feel sorry for the guy. He was obviously mentally ill and his mental illness was fed by his fame.
