Public radio station WYSO surpassed its fall fund drive goal of $200,000. As of Wednesday morning, October 12, WYSO has raised $201, 524.
“Our listeners came through for us again,” said general manager Neenah Ellis. “We take this as a vote of confidence in our programming and our new efforts to bring more local voices to our airwaves.”
This year’s on-air portion of the fall fund drive began on Tuesday October 4 and ended Sunday October 9, three days less than in the fall of 2010. Ellis believes listeners are making it clear that they prefer shorter drives and that WYSO intends to honor those preferences.
“We’ve gained 300 new listeners and expect that number to increase as we continue to take pledges online through the end of October,” she said.
WYSO will move to new headquarters in spring 2012 and will increase its signal strength, both analog and digital, before the end of this year. It is licensed to Antioch University and distributes its programming on multiple platforms: FM, HD and via on-line streaming at www.wyso.org.
