I personally am fond of 1930s gangster talk. "Doll face" for example. I've never been called that but it would make me feel like Jean Harlow and is that a bad thing?

Congratulations, honey!

The first time I was called "ma'am" I felt ANCIENT, but I've gotten used to it, and I actually feel that "honey, sweetie, etc." aren't too bad as long as they aren't followed by a leer or a pinch. I think it's just that feeling that people seem to think they have to say SOMETHING. I work in retail and I try to avoid all of them, but I won't swear that I haven't used them-- but when I do, it's to someone 12 and under!

I have to admit I don't use them often myself, except with my family, close friends, the doggie and on rare occasions with others. Kay, I wouldn't mind doll face :) but hum next time I bump into ya I might just have to shout "hiay doll face".

Virgil! "Honey?" That's so Betty Grable. I might as well be selling war bonds at the Hollywood Canteen for a lousy "Honey". It's Doll Face or nothing!
