Purple Moon Farm will host this month’s Growers Exchange event on September 10th from 2:00-5:00pm. Chris Entler and Jessica Wyant have lived on this three acre farm since 2003. They have been experimenting with raising dairy goats and sheep, as well as pigs, heritage turkeys, and poultry with a goal to produce enough food to satisfy their family’s needs. They are learning how to create an integrated system in which animals enrich the soil, mow the grass, and transform kitchen wastes into protein. The learning topic for this event is raising heritage livestock, and the work project is soil building and general farm maintenance.
The Growers Exchange creates a way for seasoned growers to share expertise with novice gardeners about how to grow healthy food.
The monthly events organized by the Growers Exchange are free and open to the interested public. For more information, and to register, please contact Jenny Haack at 937.322.7450 or email her at haack17@gmail.com. Be sure to wear comfortable work clothes and shoes, and be prepared for the weather.
