The Yellow Springs Community Council will be administering a limited number of one- time scholarships for local youth to attend a summer camp of their choice. Scholarship requests of up to $200 (not to exceed 75% of the full tuition) will be considered and provided based on receipt date until available funds are committed. Yellow Springs children entering grades 5 through 7 who have been enrolled in Yellow Springs schools for at least one year are eligible. While the primary focus of the scholarship program is grades 5-7, applications for children in other grades will be held and could be approved if funding is available. Parents or guardians should send a statement of how attending summer camp would benefit their child along with a copy of the completed camp application to the YSCC, PO Box 274, Yellow Springs. Applications must be received between May 2nd and May 27th.
Recipients of the scholarships will be notified as applications are approved. YSCC will forward the scholarship money in the child's name directly to the camp, with the parents forwarding the remaining 25%. Parents should be sure all contact information is included in the request. Questions about the scholarship program should be directed to John Gudgel at Mills Lawn or M. J. Richlen at the Antioch School. Information on how to help support the scholarship fund can directed to Pam Conine, YSCC Board President, at 767-8031.
A special thanks to the Yellow Springs Community Foundation for their support of the summer camp scholarships program.
