May 15th through 21st is National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week. National EMS Week brings together our community and our EMS personnel to publicize safety and to honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s “front line.” To celebrate, Miami Township Fire-Rescue will host an Open House at the Yellow Springs fire station on Tuesday, May 17th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
Community members will have the opportunity to visit the fire station, meet the firefighters and EMTs and tour the equipment. Fire engine rides, balloons and educational materials will be available. Children will have the opportunity to participate in the Kids Firefighter Kombat Challenge, in which they get to experience life as a firefighter and crawl under smoke, rescue a victim, and use a hoseline. CafĂ© MTFR will be serving Mark Crockett’s world famous MTFR BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. Adult meals are $10, and kid’s meals are $5 with all proceeds benefitting the Miami Township Firefighter’s Association Equipment Fund.
For more information about MTFR’s EMS Week Open House, contact Chief Colin Altman or Firefighter’s Association president Kris Collins at 767-7842.
