Visioning: Round Three - May 19 & 20

Round 3 of Public Participation: Open House

The Visioning Process was launched in August 2009. For the last 10 months the community has been engaged in a process to craft a vision and supporting actions for the future of Yellow Springs and Miami Township.

Two rounds of public participation have been conducted. In October of 2009 Round 1 (Share Your Dreams) gathered hundreds of ideas about the future. In December, the Goals and Values Workshop (Build A Vision) was conducted. Now it’s time to Shape Our Future and the entire community is invited to participate in the final Open House on May 19 (6 to 9 PM) and May 20 (9 AM to 6 PM) at the First Presbyterian Church.

The purpose of the Open House is to share the recommended goals, themes and actions of the vision. The Steering Committee has worked hard to incorporate a significant amount of public input into a coherent vision for the future that reflects the values of the community. The Open House will allow the community to indicate to the Steering Committee that the vision is consistent with earlier input. It will also provide an indication of community priorities and willingness to help with implementation.

Attendees can view displays that summarize the process and describe the vision, including goals, actions and principles. After a brief presentation at 6 PM on May 19, attendees can review the material at their own pace with Steering Committee members present to answer questions. There will be comment cards to record your reactions.

All of the content produced for the Open House will be posted on the Village website, www.yso.com. The input of participants will be documented by ACP and shared with the Steering Committee so they may complete their recommendations. The final report will then be presented to Village Council and Miami Township Trustees in a public meeting and action to implement the outcomes of the Visioning Process will include public hearings.
