Performance artist and Antioch alumnus
Antioch College is pleased to announce Mistake on the Lake, a performance, video, and text work performed by Adam Rose, a 2008 graduate of Antioch College, and artist Andrea Peterson. The performance will be held on Friday, November 16, at 8:00 p.m. at the Herndon Gallery in South Hall on the Antioch College campus.
The exhibition asks the following questions: What if a corn famine was to befall the entire region? What would become of our corn flakes, popcorn, and beloved corn syrup? Without a doubt, a corn famine would be disastrous. Yet the producers of corn are treated with so little respect.
"Mistake on the Lake is Antibody’s response to the Midwest—what happens when the Midwest reflects on itself, turns its values and symbols back in on itself?” Rose said. “Drawing from Butoh and flamenco dance, Antibody's hybrid style is deployed to re-ground these forms in a local context."
The exhibition is presented by Antibody Corporation, where Rose is currently the artistic director. The company is based in Chicago, and has presented works nationally in Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and Boston, and internationally in Puebla, Mexico.
Antibody Corporation is a nonprofit organization specializing in mind-body and occult research. Since its founding in 2009, Antibody Corporation has presented research findings in a variety of media including performance, video, and text.
This project is generously supported by a DanceBridge Residency at the Chicago Cultural Center; the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation; and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
