According to an article in the Columbus Distpatch, an invitation to a cocktail reception held on Oct. 19 in the Yellow Springs home of David and Sharen Neuhardt, inaccurately announced an appearance by Gov. Strickland and "special guest" Eric D. Fingerhut, chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents.
Neuhardt, who said she mailed out a corrected invitation immediately upon learning that Fingerhut would not be attending, said she mistakenly e-mailed the original draft to a number of invitees.
"This was an innocent mistake," Neuhardt, who was a candidate for the U.S. Congress last year, is reported as having said.
The Yellow Springs situation was revealed as a part of a larger story by the newspaper about fundraiser invitations suggesting "pay to play."
