Perfectly Frank Evening

By Susan Gartner

On Friday, July 1, partner Tom and I attended the monthly cultural arts series, "Perfectly Frank Evenings” at The Westcott House in Springfield. The new series takes place the first Friday of every month for a very reasonable fee of $5 (free to members of the Westcott House Foundation).

As a Chicago transplant, I’m familiar with Frank Lloyd Wright homes and used to work a few blocks from the famous architect’s home and studio in Oak Park, IL, but I was completely unaware of The Westcott House. This was a real treat. Everything about the evening was classy---from the fully restored Prairie-style house (the only one of its kind in Ohio) to the decorated gardens to the perfect summer temperature to the music.

Musical guests for the evening were The Numbers Are Bad and The Show and live video mixing and projection on the back of The Westcott House by The Now Device.

Fortunately for villagers, The Show and The Now Device will be appearing in July at another classy and architecturally beautiful venue---the Yellow SpringsArts Council Gallery and Exhibition Space at 309 Xenia Avenue, built by Yellow Springs’ own legendary artist and architect Alan Macbeth. The drummer for The Show is Mills Lawn Elementary School principal Matt Housh. Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 16, 6-9 pm and Saturday, July 30, 7-10 pm and watch this blog for more details.

The next “Perfectly Frank Evening” at The Westcott House will be Friday, August 5.

Naysan (Miami Valley Pottery) had an exhibit there a couple years ago. A terrific venue, also good for small weddings.
