“Rose-Johnny”
Barbara Kingsolver's stunning short story will be performed word-for-word. Each line in the story is used as dialogue by the very talented actors in the project. It is a story about racism, homophobia, love and redemption, told by Georgeann - a young girl growing up in the South during the mid 50's. This project serves to show that a beautiful piece of literature can come to life on the stage. It is a treat to experience! July 13th and 15th.
"20%," a dramatic expose about U.S. women who have served and are currently serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. This piece is based on testimony and current statistics about the experiences of military women, both in war and at home. Although Congress currently has imposed a ban on women serving in combat, the harsh reality is that women are in fact serving and suffering devastating casualties and consequences including PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), MST (Military Sexual Trauma), homelessness and family difficulties. “20%" is a fiercely candid response to the U.S. news media’s negligence in its duty to inform the American citizenry. July 12th and 14th. *NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN-CONTAINS ADULT LANGUAGE.
Tickets for both shows are $12 for adults and $5 for children. They will be performed in Antioch’s South Gym at 8:00pm.
