Theatre project plays in South Gym starting tonight

Starting tonight, the Yellow Springs Theatre Project will present two plays under the direction of Sandra Crews, a long-time villager and Associate Professor of Theatre at Wright State University. The plays are being presented as a part of the Yellow Springs Experience.

"Rose-Johnny" is based on a short story by Barbara Kingsolver about a 10-year-old girl who confronts the sexual and racial complexities of the South. Rose-Johnny will be performed July 13 and 15.

"20%" is a play written by Sandra Crews about women’s experiences in the military and contains adult language and situations. 20% will be performed July 12 and 14.

Both performances take place at 8 p.m. at Antioch College South Gym, 795 Livermore Street.

The group’s mission is: to make theatre that provokes, inspires, educates and perhaps even offends; to question our assumptions about theatre, education, our world views and our silence; to have the courage to use our craft to explore, question and expose the lies we have come to believe; and finally, to celebrate our humanity with those who wish to take the journey with us.

Tickets are $12 for adults; $5 children under 13
