Oil Paintings by Jennifer Haack
July 20 – August 28, 2010
The Glen Helen Atrium Gallery is showing “The Earth Responds – Oil Paintings by Jennifer Haack” from July 20 to August 28, 2010. The public is invited to meet the artist at the opening reception on Sunday, August 1st from 2 pm to 4 pm.
The Gallery is located in the Glen Helen Building at 405 Corry Street in Yellow Springs. Show hours are 9:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free. Artwork will be available for purchase.
In her spontaneous, dreamlike paintings, Haack imagines the response of the natural world to the crises of rapid and widespread ecological transformation caused by climate change and environmental destruction. Her paintings address the issues of soil erosion, invasive species, and extinction using color and abstract forms. Haack says, “These paintings seek to express my fears and concerns for what is rapidly being lost.” She recently received a United Art & Education Award for her work.
