Locals to play Clifton, Thursday

George Bieri and the Root Cellar Band

A special show is planned for Thursday, October 13th at the Clifton Opera House. The box office will open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7:30pm. George Bieri and the Root Cellar Band are a YS local band with some great grooves. Join us at the Opera House and enjoy some fabulous blues!

Here's the lineup and bios of George Bieri and the Root Cellar Blues Band:

Carl Shumacher (keyboards and vocals) is a an accomplished musician and songwriter who played with acclaimed bluesman Joe Lewis Walker. He played on the album "JLW" (Polygram) featuring Branford Marsalis and Terry Adams of NRBQ. Rollingstone magazine wrote of his performance on JLW's "live at Slim's CD "Shumacher is a fiery player who lifts those around him to impassioned levels"

Boots Vaughn (lead guitar) in the unique left-handed style of Albert King and BB King, Boots Vaughn is a serious blues guitarist who has toured internationally with his music. He played for 3 years with Grammy award winning Isaac Hayes.

Duke Dewey (drums) is a local legend best known as the drummer for psychedelic rock band Country Joe and the Fish. They played at the legendary 1969 Woodstock Festival and Dewey is featured in the Woodstock movie.

Tim Eschliman (Bass and Vocals) is a musician and record producer currently living in Northern California. As a singer and bass-player he recorded and toured with Etta James, Jesse Colin Young, Commander Cody, The Moonlighters, The Christmas Jug Band, and Rhytmtown-Jive.

George Bieri (slide guitar vocals) brings the band together and has invited special guest Tim Eschliman, a Yellow Springs high scool classmate from the late 1960s, for the Clifton Opera House Show. He is self taught and has been playing slide guitar, sometimes called bottleneck guitar, for 45 years, influenced by blues greats such as Robert Johnson, Elmore James, and Muddy Waters.
