WYSO Concert Aug. 29

WYSO to present free summer concert

On August 29th, public radio station WYSO 91.3 will present a free summer concert at Carillon Park in Dayton featuring the Rev Cool Arkestra and Dance Ensemble, a performance group headed by long time WYSO volunteer host of Around the Fringe, Jim Carter aka Rev Cool. Local band C. Wright’s Parlour Tricks will open the show.

Long before The Rev Cool laid voice to the WYSO airwaves nearly thirty years ago, he was already the president of his own record label, I WANNA Records.

“He had already proven himself as a cutting-edge live music promoter. And he was already firmly established at the center of a Dayton's vibrant local music scene,” says WYSO Music Director Niki Dakota.

More recently Rev Cool has come together with local musicians and dancers to create a performance combing a live band with onstage DJ’s and dancers coordinated by Kelsa Rieger.

“Over the last two years, The Rev Cool Arkestra and Dance Ensemble have come to be nothing short of a live-music REV-o-lution. It's a sensation to the ears and the eyes, it lifts your spirits, and it leaves you powerless not to dance. It just may be the perfect stage show. Simply exhilarating,” says Dakota.

Opening band C. Wright’s Parlour Tricks is a guitar-based instrumental band fronted by veteran Dayton musician Chris Wright. The band has performed at many local venues and events including SideShow V.

The concert begins at 5pm. Bellyfire Catering will be selling food at the event. Free admission is made possible by support from Antioch University Midwest, formerly Antioch University McGregor.

Public radio station WYSO 91.3 is licensed to Antioch University with studios in Yellow Springs. More information about the broadcast can be found at www.wyso.org
