Experience a Life-long Learning Community

What is all the hoopla about the Yellow Springs Experience & why are 12 organizations so committed to its success?

There are so many aspects of the Experience that are compelling to the Chamber as an endeavor that has the potential to mold the future of Yellow Springs as a life-long learning community.

First of all, this effort was made possible by the partnership of several of the major non-profit organizations in Yellow Springs coming together in a very short time-frame to put this amazing program together. Led by the Yellow Springs Arts Council, the partnership includes Antioch College, Antioch University Midwest, Antioch Writer's Workshop, Center for the Arts Steering Committee, Glen Helen, Little Art Theatre, Nonstop Institute, Tecumseh Land Trust, Village of Yellow Springs, WYSO, Yellow Springs Arts Council, Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce and YS Kids Playhouse.

Second, the workshops and educational programs provide income to the participating artists and practitioners. Arts and culture are strong components of the economy of Yellow Springs and this effort is a way for artists and arts organizations find an additional source of revenue as they practice their craft and attract a new audience.

Third, the immersive learning experience of the 10 days complements Yellow Springs as an educational haven with Antioch University Midwest, the newly re-born Antioch College and the Non-Stop Institute all participating by offering special events that tie to their mission.

Finally, we're looking to attract people to visit Yellow Springs for the day but hopefully a few days or a week so that we can fill our B&B's, attract customers to our restaurants and shoppers to our shops and galleries. And the ultimate hope is that people will see the Yellow Springs Experience as a way of life and make the decision to move to Yellow Springs or open their business here.

The Experience isn't just about visitors, it's about enriching the entire community. Check out the schedule of events on the website so you can make plans for the workshops and events you want to attend. You can also participate by being an Ambassador to assist at the Welcome Center or at the event venues.

So Get Experienced from July 9 - 18. For more information about volunteering or attending, contact Coordinator Carole Braun at or via email.
