Free writers event from AWW


Second Sunday Free Writers' Workshop on
April 14
"Celebrate Poetry Month by Writing Your Own Prose Poem"
The Antioch Writers' Workshop and Books & Co are offering the next Free Writers' Workshop on April 14, 2:00-3:30 p.m. at Books & Co at The Greene. Celebrate Poetry Month by writing your own prose poem with poet Jamey Dunham.
  
Prose poetry is not a new genre, but its popularity among poets and prose writers is on the rise. In celebration of Poetry Month, prose poetry expert Jamey Dunham will lead participants through how to create prose poems and why a writer might engage in the form.

Jamey Dunham is the author of the The Bible of Lost Pets (Salt Modern Poets, 2009) which was awarded the inaugural Crashaw Prize for poetry.  He is also the Co-Editor of the textbook anthology An Introduction to the Prose Poem (Firewheel Editions, 2009).  Jamey's award-winning prose poems have been published widely and appear in several anthologies including The Best American Poetry 2005 (Scribner, 2005) and Great American Prose Poems: From Poe to the Present (Scribner, 2003).  Jamey is the Editor of the literary journal Flights and serves as Associate Poetry Editor of the journal Tarpaulin Sky.  He is currently an Associate Professor of English at Sinclair Community College and lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife and their two children.
